This cover comes in Black, Garnet Red, Dark Brown-Chocolate, Cordovan, Tobacco and Saddle Tan. Each Cover has a soft Dark Navy Blue or Black Flannel liner. These covers are a little harder to make due to the thickness of leather compared to wool or flannel but they are very pleasing to the touch and are very durable. Each roll contains 90 to 100 yards and can do about 30-35 clubs if you do whipping at the bottom and top of the grip. It can also be used as reinforcement on your hickory shaft where you need extra strength. If your shaft has been repaired with epoxy, this thread can be whipped over the repaired area for extra reinforcement. Thread can be coated with Shellac or Tru-Oil afterwards to help keep it intact. Recently we have added 18 new colors to our thread selections: Williamsburg Blue, Country Red, Magenta, Maroon, Sage, Teal, Turquoise, Walnut Brown, Dark Chocolate, Emerald Green and Dark Rust. It seems that a lot of club makers used colored thread in the 20's to distinguish and dress up their Whippings on their clubs. We particularly like black grips with red thread, brown grips with dark brown thread, and the Tan Grips with the Emerald Green, Sage, Teal, or Country Red thread.

Many of the Players in the 1920's dressed up their clubs by using different colors of waxed linen thread to distinguish their clubs from others out on the links. Bobby Jones was famous for using Red and Blue on his "Calamity Jane" putter. These colors look great with Black and Dark Brown Grips. The dark color of the grip really sets off the lighter colored whipping. Unfortunately, Natural is no longer available, Butterscotch is the next closest color.

This Tartan has accents of Purple, black and Green with stripes in gold. This is a velvet fabric (not wool like our other tartans) and is very soft and pleasing to touch.
